About Arenal Hanging Bridges

The Arenal Hanging Bridges are a complex of trails and bridges through the rain forest that was developed for the purpose of ecotourism. The main goals are the observation of nature and its protection. Our private nature reserve of almost 250 hectares of tropical rain forest houses a high local diversity of animal and plant species.

The Arenal Hanging Bridges are easily accessible. The main entrance and parking lot are made of concrete as such that at any time of the year and with all kinds of vehicles the complex can be reached.

The bridges were designed by civil engineers, built according to the highest standards with regards to security and are made of aluminum, galvanized steel and concrete.During the construction of the bridges the forest remained intact. The bridges offer maximum security and comfort to our visitors.

There are 16 bridges in total. Ten of them are regular or static bridges and vary in length from eight to 22 meters. Six are hanging or suspension bridges and are 48 to 98 meters long. The hanging bridges have an elegant and safe design and were constructed according to the latest and most modern techniques.

How to get there

We are located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, about eight kilometers east of Tabacón and 20 kilometers from La Fortuna town, in front of the Arenal Volcano and the Arenal Lake. As such, during a visit to Arenal Hanging Bridges and along most part of the trails and bridges you will be able to enjoy scenic views over these beautiful natural surroundings.
